Overcoming Introversion

I have been reading Seth Godin's book The Big Moo, and this passage struck me as the cause of my frustration.
"Here's the big news: If your strategy is to lie low, do our job, follow instructions, and hope that nobody notices you:
(a) nobody will ever notice your and
(b) you're actually increasing the chances of something bad happening."
That was me, the person trying to lay low and not be noticed. The thing is, I noticed that wasn't working for me. Life stayed the same, nothing got better. I wanted more from life, now I am trying to get noticed. I am working harder and paying more attention to the people around me. Nothing changed over night, but with persistant effort my life is changing.

The world is full of opportunity, if you are willing to explore and develop relationships.

What is your experience?
