Times they are a Changing

At the moment people are feeling the negative effects of the Credit Crisis. But I believe the Credit Crisis will lead to a Green Revolution. It will create a shift in societies attitude. With a contraction in consumption, companies will be under pressure to cut costs. Reduced demand will stimulate companies to discover new business models.
  • The decrease in demand will also lead to a reduction in work hours.
  • There will be a reduction in consumption. Decreasing the negative effects of manufacturing on the environment. Business cost cutting will reduce waste and energy use.
  • In the new economy businesses will shift their focus away from consumption, to value adding.
  • My prediction is, 2010 will be seen as the start of the green revolution. CO2 emissions will continue to be a major issue. The focus on our environment will add pollution of drinking water and the destruction of natural habitats to the list of global concern.
  • There will be a shift away from mass production in favour of hand and custom made items.
  • Cities will change into a social hub and become more people friendly by restricting cars into city centers. This will lead to a boom in public transport and cycling.
  • People will start to value there time more and spend more time with family and friends.
  • There will be a shift away from long work hours to shorter flexible hours allowing people to pursue personal goals.
  • The increase in personal time will lead to greater interest in social issues and will lead the government to be more concentrated on social development and less on business development.
What changes do you see for our future?
