Nothing stiffles productivity more then having too much time to do a task. It makes you lazy and complacent.
With too much time you drag out the chore, and what might have been done in (x) minutes, takes you (y) minutes longer just because you didn't value your time.

e.g I cut the time spent on the internet. By spending less time browsing idly and following random links I still get what I need done and have more time for more important tasks.
